dtk is a meta platform dedicated to the development of modular scientific software platforms at Inria.

Its scientific piloting committee invites you to discover some of the platforms that have been developed using dtk, as short demonstrations on real use cases. Among these softwares are medinria, num3sis, axel, enas, carbonquant, pib and inalgea.

Those demonstrations will be an opportunity for you to discuss with their authors, themselves users of dtk, and to get their feedback.

Take a look of the presentation at this link dtk-day.

See you.

Thibaud.

A new layer was recently pushed to the git master branch of dtk: dtkVideo. This first draft of this layer let’s you record videos directly from your dtk based applications. This optional layer is currently based on ffmpeg (version 1.0 and newer should be ok).

This layer is already used by two components of dtk:

  1. a MovieWriter node is available in the composer that let you record movies from a view. the numView of num3sis was recently modified to add an output frame port that can be connected to the MovieNode input frame port (see this post)
  2. a dtkScreenMenu is now available in dtkGui. It adds a simple menu that let you do screenshots and screencasts directly into your applications. dtkCreator and num3sis already includes this menu.

This sample video was created with the Screen menu of dtkCreator:

We have always considered using qtifw for package dtk together with dtk based applications. Beyond its de facto great integration with Qt, it provides unique features such as easy management of SDKs, and component based updates. Offline installers are of course a solution, but setting up a package server is the way to easily serve plugins to our packaged platforms.

Imagine using qtifw to implement a store functionality …

Stay posted for a test of this new version.

Read on the Qt blog.
